Bette Midler 노래들 - The Rose, From a Distance, 그리고 Wind Beneath My Wings

예전에는 Bette Midler를 베트 미들러라고 표기했는데 요즘은 위키백과를 보니 벳 미들러라고 표기되어 있다. 나무위키네는 여전히 베트 미들러라고 표기되어 있는 걸 보니 둘 다 혼용하는가 싶기도 하다.

내가 좋아하는 Bette Midler의 노래는 "The Rose"다.

 

 

어릴 때 가사를 이해하지 못하고 들었을 때는 그냥 노래 자체가 너무 좋다였는데 나중에 학교에서 영어를 배우고 가사를 이해하니까 가사도 너무 좋아졌다.

"The Rose"를 Westlife와 LeAnn Rimes을 비롯해서 여러 가수가 다시 부른 걸 들어보기도 했다. Westlife도 잘 불렀는데 이 노래만큼은 지금껏 들은 것 중에서 (개인적으로) Bette Midler가 부른 게 제일 낫다.

 

"The Rose"만큼은 아니지만 Bette Midler 노래 중에서 "From a Distance"와 "Wind Beneath My Wings"도 좋아한다. 한 포스팅에 세 노래의 비디오를 가져와 내가 가끔 찾아서 듣기 편하게 모았다.

Bette Midler의 위 세 노래를 듣다 보면 1980년에서 1990년대 초의 그때가 뒤돌아 이쪽으로 달려오는 느낌이다.
